One of the new main features you will see when you walk back into the sanctuary is a beautiful wall that has been added to extend our narthex area. It provides a commons area for gathering, hospitality, and  fellowship. While a new wall is a big addition, it makes our sanctuary more closely resemble the original tent of meeting- the tabernacle, the earliest structure where the presence of God meet with humanity. The original plans for the tabernacle, and later Solomon’s temple which was designed to be a permanent tabernacle, contained a gathering place at the entrance and a separate section for the Holy of Holies where God’s presence dwelled over the ark of the covenant. In ancient times, only the high priest was allowed into the Holy of Holies to offer sacrifices on behalf of the sins of the people. Now, because of the sacrifice that Jesus made on our behalf, we have the privilege of entering into the Holy of Holies! This is where we worship every Sunday when we go to church- in the Holy of Holies, in God’s presence. Our wall incorporates glass to remind us that everyone is welcome in the presence of God.  Goosebumps!

If you do not want to paint an entire room, consider using removable stickers on the wall. These stickers come in a variety of designs suitable for most any room. They Architectural Design Oriented Firm are easy to place and remove when the time comes to make a change. This is an especially good idea for children's spaces as their taste will change with time.
